This PRACTICAL 2-month training is suitable for new-entrants to Tech, and covers the 3 core courses that make you, at the end of the 2 months:
Linux System Administrator

Cloud Infrastructure Engineer 

 

CLOUD SERVER ADMINISTRATION WITH LINUX

Basic Linux Commands:

– Introduction to the Linux command line.

– Basic file system navigation (cd, ls, pwd).

– File and directory manipulation (cp, mv, rm, mkdir).

– Advanced file manipulation (touch, cat, more, less).

– Understanding and using wildcards (e.g., *, ?, []).

– File and directory permissions (chmod, chown).

 

User and Group Management:

– Creating and managing user accounts (useradd, passwd, userdel).

– Basic understanding of user groups.

– Switching users and understanding user environments.

– Advanced user and group management.

– Implementing user and group quotas.

– Understanding and configuring sudo access.

 

Shell Scripting:

– Introduction to shell scripting.

– Writing and executing simple scripts.

– Basic control structures (if statements, loops).

– Advanced shell scripting techniques.

– Parameter passing and command-line arguments.

– Error handling and logging in scripts.

 

System Administration Tasks:

– Managing processes (ps, kill, top).

– System information commands (uname, df, free).

– Package management (apt, yum, dpkg, rpm).

– Configuring and managing services (systemctl, service).

– Understanding and configuring network settings.

– Basic system troubleshooting and diagnostics.

 

CLOUD SOLUTION ARCHITECTING WITH AWS

AWS Fundamentals:

– Introduction to AWS services and their core functionalities.

– Understanding of basic cloud computing concepts.

– Navigating the AWS Management Console.

– In-depth knowledge of core AWS services (Compute, Storage, Networking).

– Basic understanding of AWS pricing models.

 

Architecting Scalable and Resilient Solutions:

– Designing basic architectures for availability and fault tolerance.

– Understanding of Elastic Load Balancers (ELB).

– Basic Auto Scaling configurations.

– Designing highly available and scalable architectures.

– Implementing multi-region and multi-AZ deployments.

– Configuring Auto Scaling with custom metrics.

 

Security and Compliance in AWS:

– Introduction to AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM).

– Understanding of basic AWS security features.

– Configuring security groups and network ACLs.

– Advanced IAM configurations and policies.

– Implementing encryption for data in transit and at rest.

– Configuring AWS Key Management Service (KMS) for key management.

 

INFRA AS CODE: TERRAFORM & PYTHON

Introduction to Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

– Understanding the concept of Infrastructure as Code.

– Introduction to declarative vs. imperative IaC approaches.

– Familiarity with the benefits of using IaC for provisioning and managing infrastructure.

– Proficiency in writing basic IaC scripts.

– Creating simple infrastructure resources using IaC.

– Version control basics for IaC scripts (e.g., using Git).

 

Terraform Basics:

– Installation and setup of Terraform.

– Writing simple Terraform configurations (HCL syntax).

– Executing Terraform commands for resource provisioning.

– Creating and managing more complex Terraform modules.

– Understanding state management in Terraform.

– Implementing best practices in Terraform configurations.

 

Python Scripting for Infrastructure Automation:

– Introduction to Python programming language.

– Basic syntax and data types in Python.

– Writing simple Python scripts for automation.

 

IaC and Integration:

– Using Terraform to provision resources on cloud platforms.

– Simple integration of Terraform with other tools or services.

– Understanding basic Terraform providers.

– Multi-environment deployments with Terraform.

– Implementing Terraform modules for reusability.

– Integrating Terraform for automated deployments.

 

End-of-Class Project: Cloud Migration

You are the Cloud Infrastructure subject matter expert on a 5-man technical team of Developers, DevOps Engineers, and Database Administrators. Using the Terraform IaC knowledge gained in this training, setup and automate the provisioning of the agreed Infrastructure to AWS Cloud for the Migration of an existing on-premises Application, applying best practices for security, scalability.
